Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you film everywhere?

We are based in The Hague and love our little city but we film weddings throughout the Netherlands and Belgium (and beyond). One of the (many) awesome aspects of our work is that we get to travel to so many places where we would otherwise never have come.

2. How do you choose music?

Starling Films selects cinematic music that best suits your wedding. We believe that music is very important for a film and therefore like to keep control over it.

All songs we use are purchased by Starling Films, this is included in the price. The professional musicians receive compensation for their work. This means that you can share the wedding clip everywhere without worries.

3. What gear do you use?

Our 'gear' is always growing. We use professional mirrorless cameras (Panasonic Lumix GH5) with different lenses, tripods, stabilizers, microphones and audio recorders. The cameras are small so we can move easily and capture the day as unobtrusively as possible.

4. Do you give a lot of directions?

We try to work as unobtrusively as possible. During the shoot we will give some directions to make sure you look even better on film.

5. Will you dine with us?

We'd appreciate it if you could arrange a dinner for us. This doesn't have to be a five-course dinner at the family table, a meal at a separate table is perfect (most locations have experience with this and call it a 'crew meal').

6. What do you wear to a wedding?

We usually wear neat, dark clothing in which we can work with ease. We think it's important to dress well for a wedding, but because we run around all day, it's nice to wear something that's comfortable.

7. How long will it take before we receive the films?

We take our time for a good edit. Depending on how busy we are, we can sometimes send the first version within 2 weeks, but sometimes it takes a bit longer. In any case, we will ensure that you receive the highlight film no later than 12 weeks after the wedding.

8. Do you also do photography?

Our focus is on film, but we're happy to recommend some good photographers we've worked with.

9. What is your payment policy?

Payment is made in two installments. The down payment, 30% of the total amount, follows immediately after booking. With this payment we reserve the day exclusively for you. The second invoice with the remaining amount will be sent 30 days before the wedding.
